No - Vortex's "Hum"; Phantoms do not.

Though the only way you'd ever hear the hum is if you have electronic ear muffs...

This is quite true -- the humming phenomenon is much ado about nothing.  Also, recent testing at ARL at APG has concluded that the Vortex is demonstrably less audible -- again, due to this phenomenon at longer ranges than any other flash eliminator.  can't recall distances involved in test, but it was something on the order of 1-1.6 km's out from shooter in all directions.  Interesting test report, IIRC.
