I hear the sights are not relaly great on A-1's is that true?

Would it make sense financially to order one of these, then send it off to get chopped back to 14.5 and have a Vortex permenantly soldered? Or would it be cheaper to buy a new Colt barrel/upper for that purpose?

Believe it or not, many find the A1 to be the better sight--less complicated. IIRC, the A2 sight was designed for competition shooting originally, not combat.

Depends on what it would cost to have the barrel cut, threaded, a new gas port drilled, and flash suppressor permanently attached. Colt M4 uppers run around $800.

An SP1 upper will have a 1 in 12 twist barrel, do you want 1 in 12 twist barrel?
