[ARCHIVED THREAD] - FF Rails vs Non FF Rails

Hi everyone. This is my first post so please be kind. Here is my question. If you are going to mount optics and other goodies on your rails are FF Rails as good (or better?) then ones that connect to both ends? Thanks for the help....Mike

I went with the FF rails and mounted my sights to them, thanks.

Free floats are lighter, don't change POI, and cool better.

is that POI shift with pencil barrels completely eliminated with free floating?
Does a ras2 cool better than a standard m4-Handguard?

Since there is nothing touching the barrel there is nothing to shift the POI. However, if the barrel it prone to 'wandering' as it heats up then there's not much that can be done about that except maybe a cryo treatment and there's gaurantee that'd work either.

Absolutely. Any of the railed handguards, free float or not, have a ton more holes for ventilation than any of the regular plastic handguards.
