Looking at buying my first AR and sold on the Colt line but stuck on which one to pick. I prefer the full stock over the collapsible and the A3 removeable handle so I think that puts me with the a choice of the following three:

MT6601C  (might be an A2 fixed handle can confirm)
MT6700C
MT6731

Any suggestions or experience would be appreciated. Specifically 16" or 20" barrell I can't decide. All of them will be far more accurate than me. My use will be plinking and target shooting (toy)

Thanks for any help, IRS refund due soon.

One of each, and as many as you can!

Out of those three, I would get the MT6601, but not the "C" variant.  The "C" variant has a muzzle brake which makes the rifle even louder than it already is.  Not recommended.  The MT6601 has a 1/7 twist which will allow you to use the entire spectrum of bullet lengths/weights.  A 1/9 barrel may or may not shoot anything heavier than 69 grains.  Just know that it has a chrome lined chamber, but not a chrome lined bore (if it matters to you).

Buy what you like. I can tell you that the 6400c I bought is of quality and with all the A-2 stocks coming off perfectly good rifles, a stock upgrade is a snap. It is also a seven twist M-4 chrome bore. The brake works, it is a snap to remove also.
