I read the FAQ and have the weight thing figured out, but what about width!

I handled a YHM 4 rail FF today and it was FAT!  On the opposite end LMT's MRP seems to hug the barrel.  Can we get some widths posted here, or some business end pics showing the end  profile of the popular forends?   Everything I see is from the side.  Thanks everyone!

ETA: The chart below

Use a vertical foregrip and it doesn't matter .

Daniel Defense are the narrowest with an oval profile, while most of the others are round.  Rail cover panels can also affect the size.

Anyone know the width on a Troy MRF?  What's that Co that made them for Troy and is now selling them on their own?

My troy MRF is 2.2" on the rails and it 2.23" at the rear where it clamps around the barrel nut.

And Samson is the other company.

ETA that my YHM is 2.43" wide.  It doesn't sound like much of a difference but it sure feels like a big difference.

The slimmer S.I.R. system handguards are about 2.25. Thats just with a tape measure. My calipers are at work.

Right around 2.0" bare, 2.3" w/ Magpul XT panels.  It is actually oval, about 2.45" top to bottom with panels.

Great, keep them coming!  And if your measurements vary significantly be sure to let us know.  As well if you have some measurements with rail panels or can chime in on profile, do so.

Also, how about some top-down pics to show rail width compared to the receiver width, or muzzle end shots to illustrate the profile.

Bump for the exact info I'm looking for.

Is this info in the big FAQ tacked at the top of the page? It should be!

This is an excellent chart, maybe instead of tacking this thread we can just put the chart in the other railed forend thread? What do you think of that? I think all the widths should be measured with pannels as well as without. Except for those railed forends that dont need them like hte SIR and the PRI. Just pick a standard pannel to use with all the rails if thats possible.
