I just got a Colt A2 Govt model and was wonder if I should buy an A3 Upper to put on it.  Opticle Equip. will be mounted and was wondering if mounting on an A2 upper would throw off the aim bad.  Any help?

The A3 uppers are great for optics but I dont know that I'd change the reciever of a Government model

Maybe a different complete upper with the A3 reciever to switch over, better yet A Whole New Gun

A3? flattop stuff is technically A4, but yes, the optics really are a lot easier to deal with on the flattop. I just bought a different upper to get that effect.

Depends on the optic.  I have an ACOG mounted on the carry handle, and love it.  Even if I had the flattop I'd mount it to detachable CH, because I like the stock irons & they're instantly accessible.

If you're going with an Aimpoint, etc. going to flattop may be the way to go.  However, I'd consider some mount adaptors first for your A2 (www.bushmaster.com, http://www.armsmounts.com/)...
