[ARCHIVED THREAD] - lowers

how do i know which lowers are of good quality? mega machine, RRA, DPMS, Colt, Bushmaster, RB Precision.... the list is so long.

are the some that are inherently worth more than others and why?

Most of the lowers on the market now are supposedly pretty decent.

If I were buying one myself today, I'd buy a Colt or Bushmaster. But that's just my personal preference.

I personally like Stag Arms lowers. They are the best fit and finish lowers that I have seen!

I've had Bushmaster, DPMS, Olympic Arms, and Lauer lowers. I had 3 DPMS lowers and one had a tight mag well (stainless steel lower, i think it's discontinued now), one was a preban cast lower that had offset rear takedown holes. The 3rd DPMS lower was a newer forged one and was perfect.

I would buy any of the above brands again.

I have used a couple RRA to this point, I have had no problems nice looking lowers

I have an Ameetec and like it alot. I even get comments from the bushmaster people and you know how hard it is to get them to look at anything else.

i kind of hear the same "tried and true" stuff about bushmaster, colt, dpms, etc. i suppose i should stay with what i know, but i was hoping some of you could tell me about what i don't know...

stuff like SOCOM, mega machine, RB Precision, etc. Do these other brands have something to offer? are they simply untried or am i to stay away from the things i nothing about?

i know, easy to ask - hard to answer...

opinions?
