i've about decided on my upper - CMMG MOD4 14.5" w/perma phantom. anybodyelse have this upper? comments? also, should this barrel length (with the phantom) accomodate a standard bayonet? i'm kinda worried about the fast twist 1 in 7, i like the ability to shoot a wide variety of bullet weights and always considered 1 in 9 to be the "happy medium". have y'all shot 55 grain'ers outa a 1x7? any good? thanx. |

I shoot Q3131A and XM 193 in mine all the time. It shoots great, I can easily hit IPSC targets at 300 meters using prone unsupported and kneeling positions with iron sights. I even tried some Wal-mart white box 40 or 45 gr hollow points (can't remember which) just to see if they would "blow up". Worked fine out to 150 yards in my MOD 4. |

I have one just like that. Haven't shot it yet, just got it earlier this week. I'm really pleased with it so far. Fit and finish are great, they used a "high temp finish" (Gunkote?) on the barrel assembly which is much nicer than park. The pin and weld on the FH is beautifully done, can't even tell. You won't have any problem shooting 55gr in a 1/7 BTW. |

I've got one of the first run. It's my favorite set-up. Also, arfcommer TANGOCHASER been having good luck with several of these set-ups in Iraq. So, its getting some "real time" testing. and as for twist,..all questions will be answered by the Ammo Oracle

| I have that rifle and it is extraordinarily accurate for an M4 type carbine. I have only had a chance to run the Federal commercial 55 grain ball as well as the military Lake City ball and some PMP south african 55 grn ammo throgh it. Having said that; the rifle hates the PMP ammo. I don't know what it is but it does not want to feed it. I have 800 rounds left of this ammo. Its a good thing I have a Colt upper/ Dpms lower parts gun that eats it with no problems. I wonder what is wrong. In a crisis its good to be able to use what ever ammo is available. It could mean the difference between living and taking a dirt nap. Other than not liking the aforementioned ammo, the rifle is wonderful. |
