I saw a M4 flat top a week ago that had a full lenth floating handguard with an end cap that made it look more like it has a intergrated can on it. I know DPMS makes one but this one was just the tube all the way down and a cap that screwed onto the end with an opening for the barrel. I asked they guy where he got it but he said it came that way when he bought it from someone else so he didn't know. Please let me know if you guys know what I'm talking about and where to pick one up. Thaks Wolf |
| Bushmaster calls it The Dissipator and Olympic calls it the Eliminator, not sure waht DPMS calls theirs. Bushy uses a carbine system using a low profiel gas block under the handguards and a sight base as the end of the barrel. The same efect can be had by cutting a 20 inch barrel down to 16 inches and opening up the gas port. Or, if a fixed front sight is of no concern to you, you can take a carbine barrel mount a low profile gas block and use a free floating rifle length handguard to achieve that same look of a short barrel and long handguards. |
Oh. Okay. I have seen those before. i don't remember who makes it currently, though. I think the original Bushy Dissys looked like those, but the design was changed. You can achiive that with a suppressor or a fake suppressor/barrel shroud. I know someone still makes one like that, but i just can't remember who it is. ETA: I think Troy is about to release a lenger version of their MRF handguard system that covers the gas block of a rifle length barrel. It should also help achiieve a similar look. |

I hate to say this but its for my little target .22 AR setup. So the gas block isn't an issue. I just think they look nice and would be a good mod to sheila. The neat thing about it was his had a end cap that went over the barrel and then screwed on to the hardguard. I thought that was pretty slick and haven't seen that before. If anyone knows who does make these please let me know. Thanks again CJ and knight. Wolf |
