Which flash suppressor is most effective, the origonal 3-prong, or the birdcage style? Does the A2 effectively reduce muzzle rise with the absence of a slot on the bottom? |
does the phantom work as a FS, as well as a muzzle comp??? thanks |
Where does the 3 prong fit? I heard it's better than a birdcage. |

Birdcage. It does have the slots like the M-14. I was thinking I read someplace the 3-prong was better but I don't know. Didn't Colt and the Army go through a bunch of tests in the early years? I sold my Black Rifle book. I was wondering if I would get any comp type benefit from the A2 without the slot on the bottom. I have also heard it was to keep the dust from being kicked up, again I don't know. |
In the only reference to actual testing that I've seen, Tweak said: "Tested side by side on identical barrels the 3 prong gave as much flash as the A1 and A2 and much more than the Phantom and Vortex." www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=199644 |
