I have a complete upper with the forge markings PM on the right side of the carry handle near the safety. The only barrel markin id 5.56 near the front sight. What maker does the forge mark represent? Thank you for any info you can provide.

Forge mark does not represent maker, only the forge from which it came. The 5.56 stamping sounds like an OAI barrel. Certain to be if the FSB is cast.

Well, PM is not shown on the Bigger Hammer listing of  upper forges, so it's kind of up in the air right now.  The Bigger Hammer info is a bit dated and doesn't show a lot of info for the past 10 years or so. Is it an A1 type, an A2 type, or ???

[Gomer Pyle]Surprise!  Surprise!  Surprise![/Gomer Pyle]

Bigger Hammer's data is old and outdated, almost useless with today's forging suppliers.  It is good only for historical data, as you have stated.
