What is the most effective brake to put on a pre-ban 16" in terms of recoil/ muzzle rise. This is for three gun competition so i dont need flash suppressor.

Try the Quiet Brake from MSTN. It has gotten some very good reviews. I have a 20" I am going to put the one I have on. Will give my own review when I can get to the range.

Wait a few more weeks and you will be able to fit a much better FS on.

If you read the post, he wants a brake and not a FS.

I have allways liked Armalite's brake. Order a crush washer also.

Pete,

Thanks for the plug.  We have gotten great response to the QC Brake, even from the RO's who are noticing that it has minimal concussion to folks behind the shooter.  Of course we also have Taran. He's been shooting our uppers and brakes allyear and won every 3-Gun match he entered, including Mystery Mountain, 3-Gun Nationals, various Area championships, and, most recently, the DPMS Tri-Gun and the Rocky Mt 3-Gun. Now he would win some of these with a soup can welded to his muzzle, but he has been untouchable this year. Good ad for us!

Also, a number of military units are doing evals right now (they came to us).  Will be interesting to see what happens with them. The brake is very good with the go-fast switch set to "Full".

Paul thanks for the feedback. I shot in Taran's squad at the DPMS TRI GUN. Great guy. Even pulled me aside during walk through and showed me how he was gonna shoot the stage. Man he is fast. definately someone to watch. I'll have to take a look at your product.  If the ban sunsets the shop I work at will be threading bbl and installing FH's and brakes.  Any demos lying around per chance?  - mike

+1

Not only does it keep the muzzle absolutely dead-level under rapid fire...with some ammo out of a carbine barrel, the pre-ban version will create a muzzle flash that truly has to be seen to be believed (if you're into that sort of thing).
