Does anyone have this rail system?  I did a search and only found a few posts.  Users seem to think it's OK but not as good as the SIR.  The pricing is attractive and I'm wondering if you guys think it's worth it.   I'm mostly interested in accuracy improvements, comfort, and cooling effect.  I will be mounting it on a 14.5 inch M16.  Thanks.

I don't know what the "official opinion" is but I'm definately gettin' one for my 9mm upper project. I'm planning to do an SD upper with 7" barrel

Oh yes, and as for cooling, it is very open, and allows for good air flow for cooling, it is light in weight, and I like it best over other systems i've tried. It free floats, so it improves accuracy as well as any other system. The ergonomics fit me fine, it is probably a little fat in the hands with rail covers, but I use a t.d. vertical grip.

It is not a bad rail for the price, i have installed one on a friend's patrol rifle and he is using it everyday without any problem. It is a free float system that will require you to remove the FSB and the barrel to complete the install.

I talked to Frank over at POF and I'm sold!  The only problem is I want the accuracy improvement for my patrol rifle but at the same time I want the cooling effects for my M16.  And no, I don't want to buy 2!  I  have a Sure Fire M500 on my patrol rifle and if I mount the Predator on that, then I will need another light system.   Do you guys know if there's a Predator version that fits rifles with carry handles?

And how much improvement in accuracy can I expect?

Agreed 110%. And POF is a joy to deal with.

I understand you have to remove fsb and barrel to attach this, but can you reattach the front site after rail has been installedhinking.gif

Yes, unless you have a difficult FSB removal like I did. Ended up having to cut it off, so I went the gas block route.

Great.....to make things more complicated, the Larue 7.0 system is getting rave reviews.  I like what it has to offer but the biggest thing going for the Predator is the fact that it permits me to have the ARMS #40 BUIS and use an IOR Valdada M2 scope.  With my flattop, the #40 is just a tad too high for me to mount the M2 in front of it (using ARMS high mounts).  Since the Predator's top rail stops a few inches short of the charging handle, I can mount my BUIS on the flattop and the M2 on the Predator rail  (raised slightly).  I also switch back and forth b/w the IOR and an Aimpoint.  I think with the Predator, only 1 spacer is needed on the Aimpoint with the ARMS mount.  Hopefully, I can still cowitness with the Predator.  Decisions, decisions.....what should I do????

Only 1 spacer is needed w/ the #22M68 mount. It'll cowitness just fine.

None.

Seriously - unless you're shooting like a sniper (in a good prone position - preferably with the rifle resting on something)  you won't notice any increase in accuracy.

However you won't get any barrel deflection from using your sling, foward grip, or mounting optics on the foward rail either.

But in terms of 'practical patrol rifle accuracy' don't worry about it.

These rails are AWESOME!!! We have plenty in stock and have contracted POF to make them for us directly.   I use one personally on my 9mm SUBGUN.  They are rigid, sturdy, and practical.....plus they look cool.   Mention AR15.com and I'll give you free shipping.  Thanks.
