| OK guys I am a noob to the world of ar15s. I am looking to purchase one to add to my collection. I am seeking advice from you knowledgeable ar lovers on the best entry level ar. I am partial to the m4 look to the rifle, but i am not that picky. I saw SOG has an ar for $550,but i am not sure of the manufacture or quality. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thx. |

Well first off, are aware that the AW ban is about to expire at midnight on September 13? If I were you I'd wait until then, so I could buy a full-feature rifle instead of the neutered post-ban that is currently available. As for brands, if you don't want to spend any more than you have to, I'd recommend Rock River Arms. If you want to spend more, I'd go with Bushmaster or Colt. |

Yeah, everyone is pretty confident that the ban will expire. If it does, you will be able to install flash suppressors, telestocks, and bayonet lugs to current post-ban rifles. You will also be able to purchase rifles from the factory with all the "evil" features already installed. As for Rock River Arms, I've never personally owned one, but have seen good reviews of them on this site. They run probably $2-300 cheaper than the Colts and Bushmasters. |
| Rock River Arms sells excellent products. I've owned Colt, Bushmaster, Armalite, and Rock River Arms. I think RRA is def the best value of the group, and this could be limited to me, but I've had best accuracy results from the barrels that RRA sells. Quality is great, and there are plenty of options. None of us can tell you what's best for you, though, only what's best for us. To go along w/ the talk of the Ban dropping, if we're lucky enough for that hat ...just a thought. |
