Does anyone have their two cents on the quality of Yankee Hill Machine parts? I remember there are two manufacturers of the Phantom supressors, and YHM being one of them, I have never heard anything good or bad regarding their parts.

Thanx in advance.

Some would consider me bias because I'm a dealer of YHM products but steppingout of those shoes for a moment I can honestly say that YH provides excellent quality with superb customer service.  They are another  rapidly evolving company as far as the AR parts concerned and they strive to do their best.  They have a major business relationship with Bushmaster (& other AR manufacters) and they are the actual manufacter of most of the BM Modular accessories such as h.guards, sights, risers, Phantoms, etc.

The YHM parts I own or have handled have all been very well made gear. I'll be buying more from YHM, it's good stuff at reasonable prices.

I have a bunch of their gear and I've found it to be well made.  There was some intense discussion about the quality of their gear.  One of the main stick points, was that the rails are NOT mil-spec.  IIRC there are two areas that this is so.  One that I remember right off hand has to do with the height of the rail column (I don't even know if that is a correct term or not), but essentially the column that holds the portion that you attach accessories to is not as tall (mil-spec).  As a result, some accessories do not always work on their HG.  I don't remember the other issue regarding mil-spec, but I think there is one more.  With that said.  Most everyone that has handled or uses their parts acknowledge that it is well made i.e., good coating, good sharp corners, precision milled, stout as hell etc...  If you are wanting to set up a gun like an "operator" then you should go with somebody else (since the rails aren't mil-spec).  But if you are wanting parts that function as promised, then I would certainly look their direction.  I've handled several of their FF tubes and I thought they looked real good.  Especially the LW FF tube they offer!  And yes the snap on panels work on the rails.

HTH, and for some YMMV

I'm impressed so far, I've got the LW specter "system", rear flip sight, and bi-pod mount. Everything is working great. My handgaurds had a few "light" spots in the finish, but function fine. All other YHM parts I've gotten look AND function perfect. That all being said, I have NO experience with the Fantom at all, someone else may be better able to speak on those.
Mike

EDITED TO ADD: I am easily ammused and impressed, lol. And I bought a Bushmaster A2M4 Dissipator upper with the money I saved over some of the other products out there.

The rail height issue has/is being resolved, the foream assemblies coming off the line from YH now have the proper clearance for the Tangodown grips which is what folks were complaining about.

New YHM rail height clearance -

Old YHM rail height (will take new pics asap, below are photos I had on file) -

We  (RBP) were the first company to manufacture a two piece aluminum handguard (I believe) to replace the stock plastic, YHM came back and made one with rails. We have used their products extensively and found them to be a good quality product with a consistant color and finish. Their lightweight free float guards are our choice for carbine buildups. The customer service has been first rate, delivery is spotty but that happens in high demand times. Paul has been very good to us and they have taken suggestions we have offered.

YHM has not gotten rich from the business I've sent their way , but they've treated me very well and have a guy who works there who stood on the wings of an airplane as it flew the Gateway Arch - hey can't be all bad !!

BrightFlashlights:

Will the new (correct) rail spec be integrated into all YHM's rail products, or just the two-piece non-FF handguards?

Here is the one I just received from Brightflashlights. It has both Magpul XT and KAC handrail covers on it and a KAC vertical grip. All fit well. The handguards even fit the rifle tighter than my old RIS did.

BrightFlashlights, what's up with the rivets near the ends of the tubes in the pics you posted?

They're not rivets, the screws at each end are where they assemble the rail 'layer' to the front & rear mounting 'caps'.  Those screws are assembled with red Loctite so don't worry about any loosening occurring. This pic should help you understand my non-technical lingo -

My bad, I didn't realize that was the 2 piece handguard.  Looking back at the pics now, it's obvious.  I have one of their light weight FF forearms and couldn't figure out why those screws were added

the screws are for attaching a Swivel Stud to provide a handy sling attachment point that won't deflect the barrel when the sling is pulled tight

Got mine today in the mail, it came well packed and wraped, it had no imperfections and it looks really well made, I have not shot it yet, I am really happy on the way it looks on my M4, only thing I had trouble with was getting the sucker on, it was a pain in the butt, other than that I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great and well built hand guard for an affordable price
