I just finished building my first AR.  I am having a problem with the bolt getting stuck forward when I put a round in it.  I have not tried firing it, but I put dummy rounds in it and just cycled it with the charging handle and sometimes, I cannot pull back the handle to extract the round.  I have even taken the lower off, and just pushed the bolt in and sometimes it still will not come back out without some prying.  Has anyone had this problem, or have any ideas on how to remedy it.

Sounds like your gas tube is misaligned because the notch on the barrel nut is not lined up properly with the hole in the cloverleaf on the upper receiver.  This is causing the carrier key to bind up with the gas tube.

Tried it with a real cartridge?  Dummy rounds are often oversized and certainly fired cases will jam a rifle just like this.  Dropping an empty in the chamber and slamming the bolt shut is called a recruit trick!

The bolt will open if you use the buttslam to the ground clearing technique.  Read the M16A2 Operator's Manual.
