I want to buy just a Bull barrel and I was wondering what quality it is. Also anyone know average group size. I was thinking about getting a panther arms(dpms barrel) but if I can get as good quality for less I would like to.

Thanks

Model 1:  Bottom tier distributor.

DPMS:  Bottom tier manufacturer.  OK, Hesse is the very bottom...

I've bought a couple parts here and there from these guys, but generally try to stay away. They come to the show here in Dayton and their attitude sucks for the most part. I generally go to a guy that is a little higher priced because it doesn't seem like I'm bothering him by asking for something.

People need to re-learn what customer service is...

Yeah I plan to build custom Ar-15s in about 2 years also I hope to make custom sniper rifles and you better believe I am good at customer service. I have never had a bad complaint from gunbroker customers who have bought stuff from me. I am going to the colorado school of gunsmithing and hope I learn alot more there.

I purchased one of their super lite barrels and so far it's working flawlessly. I didn't have to do much talking to them except for telling them which parts I wanted, so I can't comment too much on their customer service.

I have bought stuff from them just never a barrel. I bought a gas block a free float tube and the tool to hold my receiver safely in my vise no problems with any of it I have two other ar15s all frankenstiens They work great.  I just wanted to make sure there bull barrels could shoot sub moa I am an accuracy nut. I am hoping to start a new website where i critic guns it will have actually videos of my testing processes and written critics. also a section where you can buy the guns I tested at a discounted price because I used them. It will also have a section for people to send in videos of guns they have shot and there critics. Then it will take all the guess work out of finding out how firearms really function. you never know who in these forums actually work for the companies you are questioning you wont have to take word alone just visual truth.

I have one rifle that has a Model 1 upper, and it works great The parts are just as good as any I have seen from anyone else never encountered a bull barrel from them so I cannot speak to that but everything I have from them has been great.

I built one on an Olympic lower with Model 1 upper.  Has performed flawlessly.  I know three other guys that have built AR's using Model 1 parts.  All three built different configurations, but with same results.  Excellent for the $.

I had no complaints about them until today, when I tried to buy a short (11.5") bbl from them.  They required me to fax in the Form 1 on my SBR lower, and I said "no thanks".  There is no legal requirement for that, and I will no longer do business with someone who places additional requirements on the purchase of an unrestricted part.

What about DPMS and Bottom Tier manufacturing?

I have bought uppers from M1 Sales.

What flat top uppers do they use?  They are numbered, the ones from JT aren't numbered, I don't think.

I have had great service out of Model 1. When I made a request for a special barrel they promptly sent me a quote. It was well within reason. And I have been very pleased with the results. That request was for a 7.62X39 Dissapator. Which I had never seen cataloged anywhere. It works great.
I'm not a rich man nor am I poor by any means. But when I am supporting as many hobbies as I do.I have to look for the best deal. Had I had poor reponse or service then I would never use them again. But I am very pleased with Model 1 Sales. Pics of the upper are on page 21 of the picture thread.

That's more of a CYA policy.  A lot of companies require it.  Bushmaster, SAW, etc. all need proof of a registered firearm to send things like that.  I bet if you told them you have a preban pistol AR, they would have just sent it as a preban pistol would not have ahd any required documentation.  That way, their butts are covered from the liability of someone making an illegal SBR.  If it was your company and your business could be made or broken by the criminal activities of a small number of wrong doers, you would probably have the same policy.  I know I would.

What did you get with your barrel? I've called them a bunch of times, and can't get a straight answer about whether there's a front sight, gas block, barrel nut, or what...

I bought an upper from them, it short-stroked. I sent it back, 3 times, never worked right. Finally got my cash back. Poor service.

my buddy got the same answer on the phone, but they told him they would bring one to the dayton show if he was going to be there.  we went to the show but they forgot the barrel, but they mailed him one a few days later and they didnt see any paper, which we both have for sbr's anyway...they are extremely unorganized but hes had good service so far and they threw in freebys for his trouble

I have their lightweight bbl, and it is decent.  It comes with the front sight base (straight pins, not taper) and the barrel nut.  That does remind me of my other model 1 story, though.  When I bought this bbl, I didn't receive it after a couple weeks, so I called them.  They outright lied to me about when they shipped it.  When I finally got it, the tracking number showed it was shipped the day after I called.  I can handle "we made a mistake, and your barrel hasn't shipped yet"; just don't lie to me.

My last varminter I built on a Model 1 upper with fluted bull barrel, and I couldn't be happier.  I'm now putting together an XM-177 on one of their kits, and again the quality is excellent.  I have had  nothing but very good experiences with their customer service, and they are willing to make infinite modifcations and changes to your specifcation.  Great people, good quality.  I'll buy from them again.
