Only Oly makes them.  They use a lot of proprietary parts to do so.  Also, this caliber is known to have throat erosion problems that typically limit barrel life to 1500-2000 rounds before accuracy is severely degraded.  That's typical of any gun/caliber that's so overbore.

I have had a 243WSSM Oly upper for about 4 months.  I have put about 400 rounds down the tube, mostly handloads.  The best group I could get with the factory 55gr. Winchesters was about .7MOA.  I have a 58gr. Vmax handload that will do .3MOA and a 90gr Berger match load that will do .26MOA.  This is 20" SUM barrel.
As far as throat erosion goes,  the WSSM is not that much hotter than the standard 243 if you compare the ballistics.  For what it is worth the people at Oly say they have over 4000 rounds through a test rifle and are showing no erosion or degredation of accuracy.
The only problem I have had in 400 rounds is one broken extractor after the third shot.  Oly fixed it, no problem.  I am very pleased with the rifle overall.  This is not a rifle that you will shoot 2-300 times each time you go to the range.  The ammo is too expensive even if you reload.  This round would be great for long range large and small varmints as well as deer sized targets.
If you shoot 100 rounds at a time through this rifle you had better take all day to do it.  The barrel heats up fairly quickly and shooting a hot barrel will burn it up.
