Hello all, I have been a "troll" at this site for weeks now, and I thought that it is time for my first post. Of course in the form of a question! I have a pre-ban A1(?) style upper, I believe that it is an A1, the rear sight is all part of the handle. I was told by my buddy who sold it to me that it is Colt, but the only markings I can find on it are on the left right side the letter "D" and the letter "K". I don't know if this matters or not but the barrel markings are "FNMI MP CHROME BORE". Can somebody clue me in? If this has been answered on the site somewhere before, I appolgize in advance. Believe me I have spent hours looking at the pages here! Thanks for you time, Chris |

Plenty of not quite up to date info here: www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/uppers/ FNMI = FN Military Industries (?), the current US M 16 supplier. |

I have the same barrel on one of my personal A1 type ARs. bsbg is right - the barrel is made by FN, there are more "marked" A1 type FN barrels in circulation in the civilian market. FNs contract to produce the M16 (20") for the military restricted them from selling directly to the public. |

Wow! Thanks for the info. But... I cannot find any info on Diemaco / Kaiser (online at least), so once again I must kneel upon the alter and ask for more help! h.gif Are these D/K ones made for Colt, or were they a seperate brand? Also, if this is an FN mil spec chrome barrel, that is good quality barrel correct? Thanks again for your time (and bsbg for the link!) |
