Can you mount it using a Weaver Style gas block? Also can some one show me some pics of it and any close ups would be nice.

NO, THE KAC MEDIUM FF RAS FOREND IS 10" LONG, TOO LONG FOR EITHER CARBINE OR MID-LENGTH GAS SYSTEMS. FOR THE MID-LENGTH GAS SYSTEM, CONSIDER THE DANIEL DEFENSE 9.0 FOREND:

I MUST CONFESS THAT THE CUSTOMER WHO OWNS THIS WEAPON TOOK THE PIC. I DID HAVE THE PRIVILEDGE OF BUILDING THE UPPER.

IT'S A 6.8 SPC. HE LIKES IT, SO MUCH HE'S HAVING ANOTHER BUILT JUST LIKE IT BUT IN 5.56MM.

I resemble that remark. But Wes is the artist that built it.

Bigant,

Here is a different view. With the DD 9.0", this is one of the lightest carbines I have ever handled. And BTW, the 5.56MM is for my wife. I hope she lets me shoot it!

The DD is really a product-improved FF RAS anyway.

Well I plan on using what ever rail system on the beowulf....Since I like the panels on the side of the rail system and noticed Knights has them....does any other system come with panels or is not to rough on my soft hands

Bigant,
The ladder panels are not rough on the hands at all, I have used them on my AR10s. They have a "softer" feel than the KAC and keep forearm narrower.  The DD Forearm accepts the KAC panels also. I have played with them (KAC) on the carbine pictured. I will probably stick with the ladders on this particular carbine.

Lumpy,

GG&G. My choice, not Wes's.

So did you get the 9.0 From MSTN? I have only seen the 9.5 by DD, I have looked on their website and did not see it at MSTN...also what are the 9.0 going for?

Bigant,

Wes(MSTN) built the entire upper (including the DD9.0) for me after much discussion on fore ends & F/S etc. He is currently building a 5.56MM clone with a DD9.0 for me as a surprise for my wife. Although I don't think he believes me! I would email him at MSTN, they carry a lot more than what is listed on their web site. His email is: wes grant <[email protected]>.

I don't think you will be disappointed.

Yeah, DD seems like it's the stuff to have lately.

Can't wait until they release the new rail system that they've alluded to.  Something about a removeable lower rail....  Wes probably knows but isn't telling.    (And no, I don't know squat other than what has been posted on this board.)

I like lightweight equipment (in the case of AR15's, only because I add so many accessories to them), so the DD's sound great.

Oh, and I was pleasantly surprised when I first use the ladder panels.  I put them on my Gen1 MRF while I waited on them TD panels.  It hasn't been a hard wait.  In fact, I'm not rushing for the TD panels.  If you're not heating your rifle up too much, the ladder panels are great.

DANIEL DEFENSE SHOWS A 9.5" FREE FLOATING FOREND ON THEIR WEBSITE, BUT IT HAS BEEN DROPPED AND REPLACED BY THE 9.0" VERSION, WHICH IS WHAT YOU NEED WITH AN "INDUSTRY STANDARD" MID-LENGTH GAS SYSTEM, LIKE ARMALITE, ROCK RIVER, OR OUR MID-LENGTH UPPERS.

THE WEBSITE JUST HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED.

So will the 9.0 DD fit on a Beowulf upper? Can you use a Weaver style gas block or do you have to use a Low Profile? This is the measurment .905 inches in diameter at the gas block. I believe this is the Barrel, since I got from another source.

Bigant,

If it is a standard AR15 Upper Receiver, the DD9.0 will fit. Originally, I wanted a GG&G railed GB on mine (for use with their flip up front sight), but it was not standard offering for the 6.8 SPC, I went with the PRI. What I don't know is if it will work with the .905 diameter & barrel nut. Again email Wes directly, he response pretty quickly even on weekends. I have an AR or two that I tinker with and do some experimenting with. But for my serious weapons, they are either factory (Colt/Armalites) or I have an expert like Wes do the builds or mods that I looking for.

Corey,

If I had the need today for that feature, I would take a Thumper first.

BIGANT,

I CONFESS TO HAVING ZERO EXPERIENCE WITH THE .50 BEOWOLF. THERE ARE OTHER SO-CALLED "MID-LENGTH" GAS SYSTEMS OUT THERE, LIKE THE ONE KNIGHT'S USES ON THEIR NEW 5.56MM E3 CARBINE AND 7.62X51 SHORTIE. THERE MAY WELL BE OTHERS, TOO. THE SAFEST THING TO DO IS CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER FIRST.

ONE THING'S FOR SURE: WITH THAT BARREL DIAMETER, THE P.R.I. FLIP UP WON'T WORK. YOU'RE LUCKY THAT THERE'S SUCH A BIG HOLE IN THAT BARREL! OTHERWISE, IT WOULD BE QUITE HEAVY.

So your vote is for the DD rather than a KAC MRE?  Why is that?

Thank you.

I go to the DD website and they advertise a DD 9.5.  I see here a DD 9.0.  Is there two different midlength systems out there?  I'm asking because I have a mini-SPR type upper build in the works and I am planning on putting a DD 9.? over a KAC low profile gas block on a carbine length gas system.  Just want to know if there is in fact two separate systems out there, or is there a typo somewhere.  Appreciate any help provided.

BTW, it seems hard to find people that sell the KAC midlenght FF and the DD 9.5s seem to be out of stock all over the place.  Any ideas where to get either?

MSTN has mid KAC, but any others suppliers for the DD or KAC?

Edited to add:

Understand- READ THE WHOLE F---ING THREAD BEFORE ASKING REPETATIVE QUESTIONS! - Sorry.
