Wanting to put a railed gas block on my AR.  Which is the best/lightest?

Any input appreciated.

Don't know about the best or the lightest but YHM Bushmaster and RRA all offer versions.

Take a look around at their websites and you will see what they have.  I think YHM has a couple of different models.

WHY?

Addign stuff to a gasblock is a BAD idea.

Just get a folding flip front gasblock if you need that capability.

I would agree with KevinB.
IMHO, if all you want is to add is a removable front sight, just get a folding front sight assembly.  It probably will be lighter overall.
If you want to add more than that, get a free floated rail system and put your stuff on that.

I thought about the gas block/flip up combination instead of the railed gas block.  I forget why I decided to go with the gas block only.

I guess that I was thinking that there are several moving parts in the flip up sights and if I had a mechanical failure, it would be easier to replace the front sight than the entire (expensive) GB/FFS combo.

But...y'all are the experts so I will re-think.  I  don't think that I will like the weight of the railed GB anyway.

Since you brought it up, do you have any information on the quality/reliability of the Yankee Hill Machine device (YHM 9395)?  I'm sure that you will encourage me to purchase the PRI device but it is more than twice the price.

I agree with not putting stuff (Bipod, weapons light, laser..) on your gas block.  Interferes with POA/POI, changes the harmonics of the barrel.

Kenen ist right on the target.               At a miniumum, it would screw up your zero as you add or remove anything you use on the barrel.
