I've read the great thread on RAS/FF so, the question I have is...what's wrong with the FIRSH? It looks like the perfect solution. Its as light weight as the new YHM (12.6 oz?). It has four integrated rails, etc. For $128, why wouldn't most everyone be crawling all over it? Wolf |

I have 4 firshes; I think they're fine. There are 3 disadvangages I see: 1) They're not the newest thing on the block. [;)] 2) They can only be installed by removing the gas block/ front sight base. 3) The rails are not picatinny spec and don't work well with ARMS throw-lever devices. |

A lot of people have them, I've got two and will probably be adding another. They are not in the same category as the options from KAC, DD, etc. but they are not nearly as expensive. The original "great handguard thread" was comparing the FIRSH to the SIR. I have one. It works great. You can't beat the price. It is not the only one with non-standard rail dimensions, and everything I've put on it has fit so far. If you are really concerned about it moving (I'm not) you can lock it to the upper using any convenient length of riser rail. Still way cheaper to do it that way than to buy the other brands that do this as part of their design. |
