The ARMS #4 replaces the dust cover on the upper receiver. I bought it to mount an optic on a FAL. We are both talking about the updated version of this, right? Sorry I must be dense, I still don't know what you are asking about. How can I mount anything anywhere on the ARMS but on top of it? |

The #4 rails can be bought from WES at MSTN. IMO the #4 rail should be a standard rail included with any SIR and not an option. | Well the #4 Rail does have 3 points of attachemt, spread out more evenly across the entire length verses the 2 points of attachement on the #3 rail that are more to one side. I just swapped them out and the #4 seems slightly more solid than the #3. With either rail flexing is minimal. Heck, You'll have more play between upper & lower receivers than you will on the forward grip! |

The poylmer they use has very little flex, but enough to flex instead of crack in cold weather. Since no aimers are mounted under there, it is more than rugged for everything else and will also survive the extremme heat of full auto like nothing else I have seen. Good shootin, Jack |

I did post that the synthetic lower of the SIR did have some flex or sway in it when cranking down on a forward grip. I also said the FF aluminum railed forends like the RAS II have a more solid feel to them with the forward grip. I said that and I stand by it. But there's a lot more to consider, and I think Jack just touched on that. Everything is a compromise and everything has advantages as well as disadvantages. For me any my needs and prefferences, the slight flex I feel is a small price to pay for all the other advantages having a synthetic lower half offers. Just wanted to qualify that... |
