I don't currently own one, so I cannot comment on which one is best.

But check these out and compare them:

Here is a site where you can find out all about them http://www.biggerhammer.net/barrett/wwwboard/.My personal opinion, skip the upper, get the Serbu...The uppers are all fine, and the ALS upper is very accurate, but for the dough, the Serbu BFG is a super buy. It is very accurate, well made, and Mark's customer service is super. Shootin a 50 is addictive as Black Rifle Fever!

Also, check out the visitor's section at www.fcsa.org    This is the site for the Fifty Caliber Shooter's Association and if you are thinking of owning a .50 BMG, you really owe it to yourself to join and do a bit of research there before buying.  I got the Armalite AR-50 (no it is not based on the AR-15, I always seem to get asked that) and could not be more pleased.  The Watson is a very accurate rifle, but it takes forever and a day to load.  The Ferret is nice and is much quicker to load.  All the conversions have their strong points and shortcomings, so do your homework before you waste a lot of money.  You will find that if you are going to get into shooting the .50 BMG, there is nothing that is cheap about it.  Expect to spend a least $800 on a good scope, a grand or more is even more realistic.  If you plan on reloading, expect another grand spent on press, dies, primer tools...if you want to load match quality ammo.  My match dies, CH-4D, were $600 alone.  By the time I got done, I had invested twice what the rifle cost in scopes, dies, and other accessories.  But when you can crank out a 5 shot group at 500 yards that measures less than two inches with boring regularity, it's worth every penny, or as the commercial says, priceless.
