I thought these things were supposed to be stable enough for optics??? mine moves a lot. Do I have it installed wrong?
It seems to flex or move quite a bit.

Every FF tube will flex a little, but it shouldn't be a problem. If it moves too much, maybe it's installed incorrectly. I didn't install my own, so I can't help you there.

niether one one of mine flex, at all. you might want to check the locator pins that go into the barrel nut and hold the tube in place.

What do I need to check.
I think I will take the whole thing apart this weekend and re-assemble.

Bending the barrel!!! Thats funny, that was my first reaction.....Holy Shit my barrel is bending!
Then I realized it was the RAS. I bet I did something wrong or failed to do something all together.
It shot like a champ though.....

We had a similar thread recently, and as it turns out, the person didn't have the FF tube nut (the one that screws the tube to the barrel nut) on tight enough.  I guess the instructions say to go easy on it, but you really need a strap wrench and get it nice and snug.

COLDBLUE AT KNIGHT'S SAYS TO TORQUE TO 25 FT-LB / 300 IN-LB, THEN LOOSEN AND RETORQUE, AT LEAST THREE CYCLES. HE SHOULD KNOW, RIGHT?

ACTUALLY, I DO BELIEVE THE BARREL WILL FLEX SOONER THAN THE RAS TUBE, IF IT IS AN M4 OR LIGHTWEIGHT PROFILE ONE.

Well mine didn't come w/ instructions. I kinda had to just figure it out. But I am willing to bet that is the problem. I didn't use a torque wrench so this weekend I will. Plus I hand tightened the tube nut as well. So I will tighten that better too.

The barrel is a 20" Heavy SS SUM so it is stout.
Thanks for all the help.

DK, you need to quit eating so much fried chicken and beans!  Dang dude.

Can you see what is moving?  The tube or the nut?  When I discovered that my bbl nut was loose it took a few secs of moving it (rail system) back and forth to be absolutely sure of what the problem was. Just a thought.

I think I figured it out. I just don't want to do anything to it until I get to a proper work site with a vise and torque wrench. Thanks
