Looking for a coating for a small project that a couple of us up here have decided to look into.  I am wondering how hot a M4 profile 14.5 barrel gets under the handguards after a 210 rnd F/A dump.

What about using a can?  Is there a substaintial increase?

YES, and the temp goes up much faster with a can. If you use a free float set up and the cooling is allowed then the temps don't go as high since it can air cool. The only one I know of that you will not need a pistol grip to hold the weapon forarm, is if using a SIR system.

Well in case anyone cares, Mike is involved in the rail test I original planned to do with the SIR/RAS/FIRSH.  (okay so it is only a year or so late...)

Unfortunately it seems that everyone is adding a new MWS rail to their production these days, and we have been trying to keep up with the Jones but...
