MRP = MODULAR RAIL PLATFORM

WITH THE MRP, THE RECEIVER AND FOREND ARE ONE PIECE. THE BARREL IS QUICK CHANGE.

CQB AND RIFLE LENGTH MRP'S WILL BE OFFERED. BARREL CHOICES WILL BE 10.5", 14.5", AND 16" CHROME LINED. MIKE ROCK STAINLESS BARRELS WILL BE OFFERED IN 16" AND 18".

THE 18" STAINLESS MRP I HAVE HERE HAS A BARREL THAT MEASURES 0.875" UNDER THE HANDGUARDS, AND 0.7495" FORWARD. THIS 18" UTILIZES A SPECIAL INTERMEDIATE LENGTH GAS SYSTEM WITH A NON-STANDARD TUBE, GAS BLOCK, AND ALIGNMENT COLLAR BACK BY THE BARREL EXTENSION.

THE MRP HAS BEEN PICTURED PREVIOUSLY BY HIPFIREDGUN, BUT NO ONE SPOTTED IT. AND I DID NOT TELL.

Wow I'm really jealous of that ARMS 58-MOD! That somehow looks less robocop than my 46 SIR.

Any info on $$$?

(also did you take off the top rail of 58 MOD SIR before taking the pic or is it just the way it is?)

Wes, the Shrike has a quick change barrel, but that's another long, painful, and ongoing story [V]

OH YES, OF COURSE, THE SHRIKE ...

Wes, I fully understand that the Shrike isn't out and the LMT is, so you're right.  As far as I'm concerned, the Shrike is but a development until Ares Defense delivers the finished product to those that gave it $1000 interest free loans.

Wes-

Price on #58MOD?

Have the #50M in yet?
Price?

Also, on a side note, there's a newer, PI, version of the #59.  Anyone w/ telescopic scopes that had trouble mounting the scope I/F/O the #40, because of top rail mounting length, the newer #59's have a longer top rail to alleviate that problem.

Thanks.

I have heard a LMT equipped M4 shot some of the best military rifle into the ground at a recent test, this is first hand info from a very reliable source, I wonder if this is the magical unit.

My My my that certainly is a solid looking piece of gear.

So are the 2 allen screws part of the quick change feature or what?

What's the chance of some pics showing the barrel detached?

How much does it weigh?
10/28/2003 11:07:45 AM EDT
[#32]
How does the quick change barrel work? Does it use existing barrels or does it require a proprietary barrel?

How much of the LMT MRP is compatible with existing AR15 parts? Bolts, etc?

Will the LMT MRP work with existing front sight/gas block rigs (like the PRI Front Folder) or Knight's pending bayo/frontsight/gas block?

What is the gas system like on these that you can do quick change barrels reliably?

Naturally those are all just "Boy, it would be nice to know" questions. Anything that is too sensitive for public consumption I can wait to find out.

If you look closely, there are two roll pins, aligned vertically, that retain the ejection port cover assembly... That hole is for one of them.
10/28/2003 1:31:24 PM EDT
[#37]
I can see through the ejection port that they did not use an LMT Enhanced BC Group.. wonder why not?
10/28/2003 2:11:25 PM EDT
[#38]
So how does one swap out the barrel?  It's a quick change barrel right?
10/28/2003 2:13:58 PM EDT
[#39]
From what I understand, it is the rigid frame concept much like the KAC URX.  the barrel is proprietary to the system so you can't use a normal barrel but the BCG is interchangeable.
10/28/2003 2:48:28 PM EDT
[#40]
No the roll pins obviously make installing the port door possible. (there is no way to get in from the front as the RAS is in the way.)

ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE GAS TUBE?  It looks VERY VERY thick (.25in maybe) This could be a bridge between SAW and M-16!!!! If that gas tube has .1inch walls odds are you could shoot any Ar on the planet into the ground with that...

I have been wondering why no-one builds a stronger gas tube for years.  (on most carbines the gas tube fails first).

WE NEED DETAILS SERIOUS DETAILS!!!!! How much are these going to cost complete and ready to shoot and what is weight?

Barrel $200-300, upper and handguard $400-500, bolt and carrier $200 so it should be around $800-$1000 but thats just a guess. Damn gotta start saving up my cash!!

These are probably Wes' and most likely have some personal internals including charge handle in them.  All the LMT uppers I know come bare from Manuf.

[#50]
The #58 Mod is obviously a (MODIFIED)#58 mid length. It can't be a modified #50 as the #50 isn't long enough to be modified (not stretched)longer:-)
It is nice as it gives the carbines an ability to get items out further and thus provide more room for hand guard hold. That's one of the reasons I like mid lengths, besides a little extra velocity, etc.
Good shootin, Jack
