I just dropped an order for a Bushmaster 16" barrel in the mail. I was wondering whether or not any Bushmaster barrels are on backorder as they have been in the past. Does anybody know? TIA! |

Well, you could always call them direct and see what the real story is, nothing more enjoyable than speaking to a real live voice. You could e-mail them, but you have to wait and hope somebody finds your e-mail if it did get through, and hopefully they will call you back when ever. I would just call. |
| I got the same story about the 30 day back order period when shopping for a v-match upper. I was by Bushmaster that they are primarily in the business of manufacturing complete rifles, not components, so any component orders immediately take a back seat to complete rifle orders. |

Of course. Colt, Armalite, Rock River, and others would all tell you the same thing. The first priority is complete rifles. Second is complete uppers. Last is component parts. Right now, Bushmaster is working to fulfill a ton of police department orders as well as the civilian market, after being cleaned out of many parts by the military for the war. Anytime there's a major regional or international disruption, or some kind of legal ban, there's a large spike in demand of ARs and parts, as well as other military/police-type guns and gear. That should be obvious, and the wait times that come with buying something during a peak in demand should also be obvious. 30 days is nothing; many folks waited over a year, with some items taking almost 2 years, during 98-99 leading up to Y2K. The rush all gun companies experienced from that was simply amazing. -Troy |

Well, I ordered a 16" carbine heavy barrel, not the M4 profile. Hopefully, I'll get it in less than 30 days. If not...oh well. Waiting for something you want isn't so bad. It just makes it that much sweeter when you get it. I waited just over four months for a Harrington & Richardson M1 Garand from CMP last Summer/Fall. |
