Hmmm. A Bushmaster Superlight barrel, an A1 upper and this stock. Sounds like a project!

I bought one of these (entry lenght) about 3 weeks ago at a show.  Put it on a 9mm I just built. Absolutely love it, called Ace today and ordered another.  I want to SBR it which will give me a very compact rifle, at about 28 inches.

Very Cool.....

I just put the bushmaster stubby stock on my M4gery and I love the length and maneuverability
but hate the look. This should put me right where I want to be....

Thanks!

Whats the going price on one?

I ordered the Ultralight stock two days ago to go with my BM Super light barrel.

I talked to Bob twice for about 10-15 minutes each time.   Great guy to do business with.

He said not to buttstroke anyone with the ultralight stock.  Hell, I guess you would want to be careful pulling a stuck round out of hte chamber by hitting the buttstock on the ground.  Otherwise, the stock looks nice and adequate for the job.

I'll let ya'll know how the project turns out.

The only CON I see (and have observed while handling an ACE stocked AR) is the foam rubber sleeve.  It may feel good against the cheek, but I'd be inclined to think it's field durability can't be that great and it would rip and tear. A Stubby stock will never tear...

Does anyone know if an alternative to the foam sleeve is made? That's really the only thing holding me back.

Help a guy out with some opinions!

Thanks

Wrap it in para cord. That's what I plan to do.

Great Idea bud...

You could also wrap it in a piece of leather. Cut and sewn right it would look fine.

[wow] Paracord. Now that's a great idea!

Can anyone tell me if that ACE ultralight would be lighter than a CAR fixed collapsible??

The ACE uses an A2 buffer which might push the weight of the whole unit over a stock with a CAR buffer.

A fixed collapsable style stock uses a full length buffer and tube.

I would love to place an order for one of these ace entry stocks, but every time I call I get an answering machine, makes me think it's a little garage operation. does anyone have a number for placing an order?

I have never seen that, my fixed stock was a real collapsable that has been pinned and glued, all the others I have seen are also, the extention tube is much shorter. I do believe an ace stock would have to be heaver in total weight because of longer tube, larger buffer, and there is more to it than the light plastic part of a fixed collapsable.

Both of mine are from Bushmaster and use a full length tube and buffer. No gluing involved. They are permanantly pinned and screwed.

According to Bushmaster customer service they pin and epoxy standard collapsible stocks. Someone could glue the back portion of one of these stocks on a full length tube, but there would be no guide rail to pin or bolt to, it would also make no sence for someone to manufacture a full length tube with a collapsible guide rail and detents machined in.

I stand corrected, I had emailed bushmaster because I wanted a telestock type with a full size buffer if one was available, this time they had one to offer,PN1005-087-8988PEK it in fact does use standard length recoil parts.

I was about to say, I have a full length buffer that is magically functioning in not 1 but two stocks. [;)]

Yes IF you use the Ultra light with the RRA short Receiver Extension (the one used the LE Entry stock).  This will make the Ultralight the same length as the collapsed CAR stock.

IIRC Gunsmoke (www.ar15.tv) will sell the Receiver Extension tube (it is different from the CAR tube - its like a shortened standard receiver extension)

Sorry I should have been more specific.

A NON-Bushmaster pinned collapsalble stock is what I should have said.

I realize the bushmasters use the A2 buffers but many others do not.

Anyway my question was answered, thanks.

I wish they made the Ace stock somewhere between the entry and full lenght version. I have a preban with 4 position. With the TA01's shorter eye relieve I usually have the stock clicked in one position shorter than full length, which is approximately 1 1/2 inches shorter than the standard A2 stock. Having an Ace stock 1 1/2 to 2 inches shorter would encourage me to put it on my other preban. It would also make it easier for the kids to shoot.

I just installed the Ultralight stock on my AR.

The foam rubber definitely has a durability problem as I tore a huge chunk out of it while trying to slip it over the buffer tube.

Another interesting thing that I learned is that the whole assembly simply CLAMPS over the end of hte buffer tube.  I thought it locked on or screwed into the back of the buffer tube.
