I am currently waiting on the arrival of my new Bushmaster shorty...It is the Shorty version with the ak-74 Barrel( Which I hate, but I got such a good deal on the gun I couldn't pass it up! My question is how easy is it to change out the Barrels to another style barrel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Irish, it's not hard at all.  You'll need s a couple armorer's tools like the receiver vice block, moly grease and the armorer's wrench, which is used for the barrel nut.

The handguards come off like a snap.  Remove one roll pin and the gas tube comes out next.  Put the upper in the "vice block", then in the actual vice and use the armorer's wrench to loosen the barrel nut.  That's it.  The barrel is now off.

Reverse the process to install the new barrel.  There is the matter of tightening the barrel nut on the new barrel and aligning on of the grooves to coincide with the gas tube protruding through the receiver, bu that's still avery simple matter.

If you have a vice and the tools above.  I'd say it's a 10 minute job, max.

The other option (much easier!) is to just switch uppers.  Either trade for one in the equipment exchange or buy another one and swap to one you like.

Swap the barrel.  It's easy.

The only *problem* is having to invest in some tools, but I like owning tools.

I swapped my shorty AK for a 20" gov't profile that Gunsmoke converted to postban.  Very nice setup.  Kurt's 4 slot A2 look-alike muzzlebrake.

I had no trouble selling the shorty AK barrel
