| If I have a Vortex permanently installed on my 14.5" pre-ban barrel, can I mount a bayonet or is the Vortex too large in diameter for the bayonet to fit? Thanks. |

That is a tough question to answer! When the Vortex first came out a number of them would flare out during the process of having the flash supressor welded to the barrel. I had heard later that they had changed the metal used but it always kept me from buying one perminantly mounted. So, given you have the upper, I am afraid you will have to just try! I had a vortex on a 14.5-in upper (for my M-16) and mine worked just fine. Mine wasn't welded fast however! Can you take it with you to a gun show and see if a bayonet fits? Do you have a friend that can let you try his? If not, let me know and I will measure the mounting ring on one of mine to give you an idea if it will work or not! Also, some bayonets fit tighter than others as I think my M7 is pretty loose while my M9 is a little tighter! Good luck but I think your best bet is just try it as it should work... but some didn't! |

I just bought a new tactical vortex and it is strong and heavy and I thought it'll do. M 4 carbine has run his through 200rds of auto with no problems, If you have and A-2 20in or 16in I'ld reccomend trimming 4/10in off this in a lathe (as it is really long to enable the 14.5in barrels to be legal 16inch barrels. Like a New G-36 FH. I bet the length isn't neccassary for 99% flash reduction and the length of the forks just makes this more vulnerable. Oh and bayonets are a rog that thing is the exact same diameter as std A-2 |
