5.56N is not a chamber specification - it's a cartridge specification. Each military weapon which uses the 5.56N round has a chamber specification which usually differs from the official SAAMI .223Rem chamber specification, with wider headspace tolerance, longer FIELD reject, and a longer leade in the chamber throat. The M16 chamber will differ from the M249 chamber, for instance - and neither is a SAAMI .223 Rem spec chamber. Bushmaster barrels are chambered to the M16 specification, except match barrels, which get a minimum SAAMI spec chamber. |
