Hello everyone! I just discovered ARES today. They manufacture a system called Shrike 5.56. It turns your AR carbine into a belt fed weapon. According to limited reviews of this weapons, it is much lighter than the M249 SAW. I have not seen or heard of this weapon being in the hands of our troops. I think this would be a good replacement for the M249. All you have to do is replace your upper receiver. I also read on their website that this is available to civilians. I'm going to have to inquire some more about this. Does anyone have anymore information about this fascinating weapon? |

| I wrote a quick heads-up piece a couple of months ago about the Shrike 5.56 becoming available for sale: www.defensereview.com/article.php?sid=228&mode=thread&order=0. Does anyone know when the first ones off the conveyer belt, so to speak, will be ready? |
