Are we really seeing that many quality, maintained, and inspected QDs pull out or break? I’ve had two mounts go out, but one was eBay junk and the other was name brand but tons of use, showing signs of wear and I basically decided when it time to break it and request warranty. Aluminum mounts are basically wear items if you use them a lot. |

| It monsooned and hailed on us here at Hunters Moon. I ran early and finished 12k just in time for the really heavy stuff. Shooting in rain and fog is rediculous for seeing small unpainted steel. Going to be a lot of unfinished stages. Give me a fast pistol stage any day. |

Still waiting on scores. A few lessons learned on gear for a 12k with lots of rain. I brought all my ammo in mags and replaced them from my back pack after stages. Next time I will just have bags on ammo in the back pack and top off the mags on the belt after each stage. I had 2 pistol and 2 rifle mags on the belt and they were more than enough to get through a stage. Could have just done 1 pistol mag on the belt and one in the gun, unless you are a bad pistol shot. It was also time consuming to strip lower round mags to top off. Had basically a 3 day assault pack, SpecOps T.H.E. Pack, only backpack I had to choose from. It was way too much pack and when it got soaked it was even heavier. I thin lightweight backpack with 2 separate pouches for the ammo would have been better. Took 3 liters of water with electrolites. Had a liter left over. Did good to avoid cramping and headaches. Super lightweight hiking pants and shirt. Had a few times I was able to dry out between rain sessions. LApolice Gear has a pair that are super cheap and did great. They show signs of wear now from falling a couple times and skidding on the knees. Grease the guns good instead of oil. My homemade synthetic grease and transmision fluid worked great and ran both guns like a top. Things I should have done. I brought a range finder and I should have been lasing targets I could see while standing near the stage on my run time. Too much guess work on the clock. Shooting suppressed in humidity and no wind made for a civil war skirmish line at times. I always miss specific details in the stage brief. I know I suck. Couldn't get started after the first 2 stages because I kept missing the next arrow foe the route. It always happens to me. Anti fog your lenses and glasses. Couldn't see crap once on the gun for a little bit. All in all a fun match and very challenging. I commend the afternoon runners for their ability to brave the really nasty weather. |

I don’t need the QDs, so if I can get rid of them without any negatives, then why not? As I said in an earlier post—if one needs to be able to doff their stuff quickly and has a need for the QDs, then they should stick with QDs. |
| I make my own slings using 1" tubular polyester webbing so they are soft and smooth. Sew a loop on the front for a paracord loop and use a tri-glide on the rear with the webbing doubled through it. I did have the tri-glide slide off when the webbing got wet even with the webbing doubled back through it so I had to tie a knot at the end of the webbing through the stock slot. That held till the end of the match. The rifle was still in one arm slung up front so it did not hit the ground. |

I did The Gun Run DMR match last weekend at Coleman’s Creek. This was my 5th one and kicked my ass. I did the one at Dewitte’s 3 weeks before and finished 38th out of 108 (I’m 6 weeks from 50 so I was thrilled with that). This one I was at the back of the pack. No pics unfortunately but holy hills. My biggest issue shooting wise was finding targets. I ran an LPVO (NX8) because I wanted to see how it would do and the field of view definitely did not help my lack of ability. I managed to roll my ankle and go ass over tea kettle while running to the last stage. Everything survived including my QD and I got a paper towel at the stage to wipe the blood off,lol. My rig for this one and Dewiitte’s: Attached File Next one I do won’t be until the night ops one in March so I have some time to work on my fitness. This one was 4.5 miles. |

Im not really sure why either. |

| Probably would have made a huge difference if I had used antifog on my lenses and glasses. Need my prescription glasses for distance so when they fogged up and were of no use, I pushed them up and had only the optic to scan. Didn't help that the image was hazy through the optic also. Some guys would jump up to the stage and spot the tiny 3" bonus target like it was glowing. I need more distance practice as there is not many options around here for practicing it. |

Sorry I missed this. Yes. I switched from inner tube to this and it works great. Slightly tacky and you can remove and adjust multiple times. Is that the sawmill? I was there in June, holy hell was it hot. I almost succumbed to heat stroke, definitely need to acclimate to that better! I'm doing a run and gun gear shake down event this weekend, I wish there was more stuff like this happening more frequently. |

How are you guys finding matches? Google isn't coming up with much. Im in FL. Im specifically looking for beginner friendly stuff Throughout next year. Also, ive found a YouTube channel  BEST Adventure in Shooting Sports | OED Whittington AAR That channel is super cool. FL - for how many guns there are in FL and people that shoot - actually sucks for any kind of fun outdoor shooting unless you're ready to pay tons of money for private or buy your own land. The amount of 'run & gun' or even weekend 2-gun type AR-15-centric matches are abysmally small and are maybe only at like 3-5 locations around the entire state. |

They have their Jingle Balls R&G coming up second weekend in December that would be a fantastic first match. ETA. There’s a Fairfield Inn on highway 17 just west of I 95 that I always stay at when I shoot a match there. Good prices, nice hotel, and like seven minutes from the range. |

Ive got an MTB trip scheduled for that weekend unfortunately. Im going to try to get going by end of q1 2026 on rng's still need a few bits of kit. Hows a 10.3 with 1-4 sound for these types of events? Also i need to start working on a pistol belt, but i may adapt some of my mountain bike kit |

Anything on the East Coast is an 11 inch with a 1-8. West of the Mississippi is a 16 inch with a 2.5-10. If you have solid dope out to 300 yards, you’ll be fine for virtually anything east of the Mississippi. Your 1-4 will probably be fine—I’m getting old and I just like more magnification. |

| Ok so I did a monsoon match this year and now have Legion next weekend and the weather is planning to drop out the bottom. Anyone have tips for running in the bitter cold? I have done 30-40s, but this time I am running early and most likely will be in the teens. |
