Some people enjoy duplicating a particular setup for whatever reason- it looks cool, it seems like a practical setup, they used it during prior service, ect. Some clone stuff I like, some I'm not into. I do like reading the threads and it's always interesting to see what different organizations are using, particularly ones with decent training and a good budget. |

When 45 came to visit my area, my team was asked to supplement (USSS just being nice) his detail.
Anyway got to chat with the CAT guys the detail was made up of guys from two separate teams. Half of them had the SR-16 with the URX quad rails the other half had just gotten new SR-16’s with “URX5” rails (I don’t actually know what the rail is designated by KAC.) The newer rifles were rocking MAWLs, I saw 2 Modlites, otherwise it was all TLR’s and maybe one or two HLX’s The older rifles had PEQ’s with a few MAWLs. I saw a mixture of Streamlight TLR’s and HLX’s. I didn’t notice any surefire. Interestingly all the PSD agent’s SR-16’s had law folders and D60’s. At least the ones in the vehicles were set up that way. Counter Sniper guys were all rocking LPVO’s on their 16’s |

The USSS ran M3s and M3Xs for decades (love it or hate it, old habits die hard over there), so it makes sense that they like the TLR at a fraction of the cost of SF's X series. And while some on the team will spend personal funds on approved accessories, most of 'em just run what's issued because they're not overwhelmingly "gun guys" believe it or not. |

I love when guys clone exactly what they carried over seas but definitely not downgrading anything because a certain agency issues a certain item. |

The D60 is pretty reliable. The Surefire 60rd not so much.
