In the ban era, some muzzle devices were just manufactured as part of the barrel, since it was the threads that were also considered naughty. No threads was one less feature to account for.

How about a photo? I have never seen a brake on an AR15 that wasn't a separate device either screwed on or pinned and welded.

Weren't there a load of bull barrel rifles with brakes machined into them?

They sold a lot of the 11 1/2" barrels with the extended flash hider and bayo lug. 14 1/2" barrels with a perm. attached AK brake and bayo were sold by a few places also.

During the ban I remember DPMS or RRA selling barrels with a A2 style FH that was bored out to .750 and installed over the barrel.. just press fitted

Yes but I don't think that's what OP is talking about. Bushmaster did a ton of those AK braked 14.5 setups. Stupid loud.

RRA were the ones that did that.

I actually had one, it was my first AR, around 2007 or so. Which was after the sunset of the AWB.

Unfortunately I don't have pics. It was a 16in barrel with a flash hider build into the barrel. It look like the back part of the surfire war comp, just a bunch of holes.

I ended up cutting and threading the barrel, which was a PITA because of how hard the barrel was.

It's really pretty easy on the photo hosting websites like Imgur.

I want to see this thing!
