About 4 yrs ago I picked up a Colt rifle- it was a "Black Friday" at WallyWorld and the wife and I were blowing money like crazy that year. I was looking for a lighter-weight carbine, thinking it would be easier for an old goat to handle and carry. In the event it isnt much lighter if any than my old pencil-barrel AR15 from mid-1970s.
The rifle is marked "M4 Carbine" and has a serial # LE15xxxx. There is no other identifier like #69xxxx or similar, which it seems most of these rifles supposedly come with. It has all Magpul  furniture and came with several non-windowed magpul 30 round mags.
It's a pretty standard-looking rifle, is semi-auto ONLY, the safety is "safe" and "fire" as with all AR15's Ive used over the years.
Has anyone else seen these M4 marked AR 15's or have any info on why these were so marked?  Thanks, Dun

They’ve been marked “M4 CARBINE” for 6 or 7 years now, it’s about the only way to get them. There have also been a few runs of special additions that were marked M4A1

They are correct. It looks like you have a Colt Expanse rifle. The "LE" prefix are rumored to be slightly higher quality than the CE prefix but again rumor. I have one as well. Bare bones AR. No chrome lined barrel, forward assist or dust cover. It was their attempt at a budget rifle to compete in the $5-600 market. Mine shoots well but it isn't as polished/refined as my 6920 or 6940. Still a good rifle you have there.

Walmarts used to carry these pretty regular pre Sandy Hook.
How is yours marked? I have seen both .223/5.56 mm marked.

Expanse model

He's got a 6920MOE.
He said it came with magpul furniture.

I'm curious about multiple window pmags. Mine only came with a single M2.

Yeah, I meant more caliber markings.  I saw them but never handled any.

And curious as to the multiple Pmag deal too.

Negative Ghostrider, the Expanse came out after Walmart stopped carrying EBR's. He's got a 6920 more than likely.

I bought the same model at Wally world around 4 years ago.  It has the M4 carbine roll mark with the MOE furniture.  It was unusual that mine came with only one E-Lander steel 20 round mag.  It is the real deal and exactly what I wanted.

Look on the box if you have it. If not, try Colt's website and their serial number search.
Either way I'm 99% sure you have a LE6920. They started marking them M4 and took the for military and LE use only because people were wanting them marked M4 and hated the military/LE only markings. Of course as soon as the LE/military only markings went away people cried about that and started paying a premium for older ones that had them. I've seen them used go for more than new just because they were the ones with the le only roll marks.
