The disconnector spring is installed with the larger end on bottom. I am running a JP enterprise reduced power spring kit with an ALG milspec trigger. Any thoughts?

You need to file under the front of your sear to let it go forward to catch the hammer.

You should not need to file anything.  Check to make sure the spring are all in correctly. Try standard springs. ACT with JP springs is a tried and true setup. Maybe something is out of spec. If you still have issues contact ALG.

Don't have that trigger but if you wiggle the safety selector does it reset? Mine had this problem and after changing out the selector I was GTG

I lightly sanded the notch on the back of the hammer and it fixed it.

You should not have to sand anything... if you are sanding you are removing metal and the hammer is surface heat treated.  If you take the surface heat treated metal off you could expose soft metal and make the part wear faster and possibly induce a failure or a burst which could cause and out of battery firing.

Check to make sure the disconnector is not hanging up on the trigger.  I had this problem with a new trigger of a different manufacturer and had to file a little off the disconnector to get the trigger to reset correctly. If if you are concerned about removing the hardened steel, just grab a torch and fix it.
