I'm wanting to build an AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor.  I'm planning on buying just some parts here and there until it's finally done.  My first purchase was going to be a lower.  I've looked into it very little before but I found out enough to know that they are not anywhere near as standard as an AR-15.  From the research I've done tonight it's even worse than I thought.  Apparently there's only certain lowers that are compatible with PMAG's (Which is what I want to use) and there's also LR308's, and you have to make sure you are buying the correct parts depending on which type of rifle you're trying to build.

So my question is, who makes a good quality lower to start my build that will accept PMAG's and, hell while we're at it, has a reputation for accepting the majority of parts?  Looking forward to starting this process and learning a new rifle.

You want to look at parts that are DPMS pattern 308. That will give you the most standard AR 10 platform. I would recommend buying an upper and lower from the same manufacturer.

Its alittle pricey, but im a huge fan of the POF gen 4 lowers.  But I also prefer Billet lowers vs cast.

Ok that makes sense with what I'm seeing online then.  Thanks for the help.

I've actually stumbled upon some Aero Precision rifles and their quality seems to be pretty awesome from what I'm reading.

Aero Precision makes some decent stuff. The M5 lower can be had for about $180. The M5E1 upper is a solid piece as well, and mates up with their enhanced handguards. All 3 pieces can be had for around $450-ish.

Billet will cost you more, like the set that Mega Arms makes, or Seekins and Balios. Those come out around $900 and more.

Palmetto State lower for $99 shipped and a matching upper for $149 is what I used here.

That lower is a daily deal and expires tonight at midnight.

On a budget? Aero is what I would choose.  They have been around awhile and even made Armalite lowers in the past.

I was originally planning to go full PSA because their regular AR-15's are very good quality for the price, and there's a PSA store in the city I live in.  However when I started looking into reviews of the PA-10's, they were not good at all.

Aero would be my choice if you want to keep the budget on the mid to low side.

Take a look at Quentin Defense, they have billet and forged upper/lowers in DPMS pattern and price is reasonable.

Honestly, I'd go with one from Aero Precision. I helped a fri me build one using mostly Aero parts and it went together nice and wasn't too expensive. I've been using thei AR15 parts for many years and have been very happy with them.
