does the bolts on your accessories interfere with anything?

installed a magpul  grip on my handguard and 1 seems to be touching the bottom of the gas block and the other is a papersheet away from touch the corner of it.  Looks like i'll have to do a bit of grinding.  Or this is fine.  the grip feels locked and secured.  I'm just worried about when the barrel heats up and i'm guessing it'll expand and touch these bolts, which will then turn my free floating setup to a non-free floating?

One of the screws was touching my GB I just took a file and ground it down.  No issues.

The bolts seem longer than they need to be.  maybe there's variations in thickness of wherever the mloks are.

anyways, did a bit of grinding.  Still very close, but as of right now, they are clear from the GB.  Need to see what it looks like after getting abused and from the heat.

One screw touched the barrel.  I believed it is an over torqued screw.

One of the nuts on my Magpul grip touched the gas block if I put it up one more slot.

I didn't want to grind anything so I just moved it back. no biggie.

Another annoying thing I had to deal with is the thread locker magpul used for the attaching hardware.  There is no way I could rotate the bolt with an allen wrench when installing it.  It was just too stiff to turn or if I let it off some, it would just rotate instead.  Had to disassemble it.  Grip the nut with pliers and screw the bolt into to break the seal or whatever you want to call it.

Then I can insert and turn the allen wrench and watch the nut rotate into place. *sigh* Life of a mall ninja.

The longer screws are to allow for thicker mounting surfaces. For example a plastic handguard could be thicker to give more strength.

And my method for "pre-setting" the screw with the thread lock is to insert the T nut into the mlok slot, not through into it as if to mount it but just into the slot so it is essentially acting as a wrench to hold the T nut while I tighten the screw.

I do that, too.

I've had screws hit the gas block twice.  Took a file to the screw and the problem was solved.  Magpul sells a replacement screw set.  Worth picking up if you're going to be a heavy M-Lok user and are concerned about filing down the screws.

Yeah, I he some palmetto State 'lightweight mlok' uppers where the screws hit the gas block.  The handguards have a smaller diameter so the screws are closer to the barrel and gas block.  My Aero Precision mlok handguard has a huuuuuge diameter and the screws have plenty of clearance.

Yes. Magpul needs to wake up and shorten the bolts. It's senseless. I grind them down then use a paint pen to prevent rust.

I am guessing they are longer because the magpul polymer m lok furniture is thicker than most aluminium rails.

And people say MLOK is better than Keymod...

Probably true. I've never seen polymer mlok rails in person, but surely they aren't that thick.

Yes keymod has a BIG advantage there. Much better for removing and moving sections without damaging the rail as well. Too bad it's not nearly as strong.

I had the same issue. I had one bolt that contacted the bottom of my gas block. I took a dremel and removed the a thread or so... reinstalled... problem solved.
