Is the ALG ACT trigger the best?  At that price point, of course.  Is there anything else worth looking at at that price?

I use it on all 3 of my guns. Get the purple spring with it for $6. Sometimes they come with it and sometimes they don't. Not sure why.  But it will give you a 4.5lb trigger. And at that price point there's noting else to look at in my opinion.

I have never tried the ACT but I can say the Right to Bear trigger is slightly less and I am very happy with it.

For the money it's great, I got mine before they offered the purple spring. I don't think I'll get that spring just because I've heard with hard primers it doesn't always ignite and I have CMC 3.5's and geissele SSA-E's if I want something lighter. The bcm pnt is basically a copy of it. feels the same.

Sure there are, but not at that price point.  FWIW, I've used the ACT and RTB, good results, can't tell them apart.

I strongly agree with this.

Out of the box, the ACT is smooth.  So smooth that it feels much lighter than the specified 5.5 pound minimum pull.  I've tested mine and they're both around 6.1 pounds, but since there's NO grit or drag they feel a lot closer to 4 pounds.

Meh. On a couple of my budget guns I've gone with a Wolff reduced power trigger/disconnector spring. It's reduced the mil spec triggers to a very consistent 5lbs. It's still a long pull...but the creep reduces with use.

RTB enhanced is on sale for 38 bucks.  I have it and the ACT and prefer the RTB enhanced.  Can't beat the price

I think the MBT is worth it for the extra $

I do like my ACT though.  Turns out I prefer 2 stage.

its not a bad trigger, just not worth it over a milspec.

As someone who has always just used stock USGI triggers from my service time into modern times, the ALG was amazing and affordable.  There are a ton of custom options though with all price ranges.

I have an ACT in my SBR and a MBT in my DMR type rifle. For the money the ACT is a good trigger but I would spend the extra on the MBT if they are still around $100.

In my experience, they WERE the best for the $$ when they first came out.  The first ACT I bought was smooth as silk.  NiB finish on the trigger was thick and even.  Still have it and still love it.

But then I bought 2 more a couple years later, and BOTH of them were as gritty as any bottom of the barrel PSA fcg.  NiB finish on the triggers was rough and splotchy  Never again.

Now I just slick up the factory fcg with some metal polish and lighter springs (if it's a budget build) or spend twice as much and get a POF 3.5lb drop in that comes with flat trigger and KNS pins.

I am a complete whore for all things Geissele and ALG.

That said, the ALG triggers, both of them, are nothing you can't get with a 5 minute polish job on your own.  And I have owned the "nicer" of the ALG triggers.  I gave it away.  All my guns have various incarnations of Geissele now.

If you want to really improve your triggers, gotta step up.  If you want to get a nicer mil spec, go on Youtube and spend some time polishing.

I have 2 Geissele triggers and they are quite nice.  One is their full auto trigger and the other is something else (forgot).

I also have a nice Hiperfire trigger which is nicer than the Geissele (in semi auto of course).  The break on it is amazing.  I use it on my x39, so it needs to detonate hard primers.   It's set up heavier.

On my go to guns, completely stock.  GI / mil trigger, it's what the Colt came with.  No mods.  Works every time.

This trigger is going on my 9mm and some other rifle.  Didn't want to spend a whole lot and I needed to get rid of a couple of notched hammers.

The MBT IS a 2-stage trigger.  And that may make a difference, depending on your application.  I'm not sure the MBT will work with my 9mm bolts, for example, so for now I still have ACTs in both of my SBRs, because their MIL-SPEC hammer profile does work with my 9mm bolts.

Just by chance did you contact ALG on these gritty ACTs?  Because I can't see how their manufacturing process could produce a gritty trigger.  And with not-perfect coatings, maybe something slipped past their QC.  If they didn't know about it, they couldnt' fix it.

My two ACTs were bought years apart and identical in looks and silky-smooth performance.  I'm not one to suck up $130 worth of "this product ain't right," so I'd have definitely called ALG on this.

If you like  the ACT but wa t t8 save some $ PSA sells their version for $30 and cheaper on sales from time to time. Its a great mil spec NiB coated trigger, I love mine. Larue MBT is nice for under $200. SSA SSAE are the best. S3G is nice too but I would not use it of a combat type rifle.

I have five or six ACT's in my guns. Love these triggers and really see no need for anything else as they work perfectly for my needs. The additional purple spring option is a plus.

I contemplated between the ACT and the BCM PNT. I went with the PNT and I love it. Extremely smooth and clean break. Haven't measured it but I would say right around 6lbs. Feels like less since it is so clean. Can't comment on the ACT since I have never used it but obviously everyone loves them. I just can't help but support BCM whenever I can. The BCM koolaid is like crack!

Spikes NiB > ACT > PSA ept in my opinion for the low cost upgrade.
The spikes is older and has a cpl k more pulls on it now so that may have smoothed it out.

MBT is the best buy and I got my 2 for $125 not $100 (no brainier at that price). Wilson TTU 1stage are my favorite but more $.

I must have missed where OP asked for triggers outside of that price range

Yes, you could polish it yourself, but that's dangerous territory. You can grind off too much material and render it unsafe to use in a gun.

If you want a no frills, good mil-spec trigger with no grit. Just buy an ALG QMS.

I'd rather the pros like Geissele do that.

For $10 more you can get the Sionics Lower Parts Kit - Enhanced (LPK-E).  Nickel Teflon trigger that is nice and crisp plus a full mil-spec lower parts kit.  Very hard to beat at that price since it comes with the full parts kit.

I really like the trigger, noticeable improvement over most stock triggers.  No grit at all.  Very smooth.  Will be my go to on all future builds unless it's for something I want a 2 stage Geissele for.
