Anyone have one; if so did you think it was worth the investment seeing as how it's considerably more expense than a standard buffer and spring setup.

Regards

i've got two of them and i'd highly recommend them, especially in suppressed guns

they eliminate all of the annoying action sounds that a standard ar buffer/spring have

My SBR that I run hard has a GEN 1 SCS. Its been ran suppressed for over 11k rounds and it's still superb. I will say, I think the newer springs are coated differently because the one I had got corrosion on it. I Hit it with the scotch brite and some CLP and it's g2g, but it shouldn't be an issue with the gen 2 anyway.

I have one on backorder at Brownells.  It's going in the MOE stock I put on my recent 18 inch, suppressed, .223 Wylde build.  I never really noticed or cared about the 'sprooooiiiiiinnnnnngggg' sound of the standard buffer spring on my other rifles but that stock on that gun...well...it was really rather distracting to me.  I think the hollow storage area in it acts like an echo chamber or something.  The can really lets you know that noise is right there channeling up from the stock through the cheek bone and into your head.

Hope to get mine sometime soon as I ordered it about 3 months ago.  Glad to hear some positive reports on the thing.

On my guns now I agree and don't notice it. But my first ar, a dpms panther it was super annoying and loud. Not really sure why.

I have one in my factory JP 3gun rifle.  If it didn't come with the gun, I would certainly not spend the money to get one.  That money can be used to increase true performance in other areas, like triggers/ muzzle brakes/ sights. IMO it is silly to be that concerned with buffer noise considering there is an explosion happening in the chamber 6 inches forward of the buffer.  I have shot a lot of suppressed rifles and even for those folks that need an ultra quiet solution for whatever problems they have, there aren't 5.56mm suppressors that are quiet enough to result in risk buffer noise resulting in compromise.

The SCS reduces bolt bounce, is extremely tunable, and makes the entire action extremely smooth. Eliminating the "sproing" is nothing more than an added benefit of the self-contained system, but if you have ever shot suppressed without hearing protection, your statement would likely be void of the OCD commentary. Suppresssed, a standard buffer system can register just as loud the actual shots being fired, which is quite distracting, and somewhat defeating of the suppressor itself, especially if used for hunting. In short, between shooters, gamers, hunters, or someone simply looking for a better mousetrap, folks switch to the SCS for a variety of different reasons, including increased reliability. Personally, I use one in a PD weapon (BCM Recce), and it easily rivals the reliability of Vltor's A5 system, and that system in particular is an extremely hard act to follow.

Hell, if someone wants one for the sole purpose of eliminating the sproing, and eliminating the cheese grating sensation resonating in their jaw, to each his own. Performance? LOL! What are we talking about, bolt-on modifications for a car?

Think outside the box...

^ Well said.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll be picking one up to give it a try, and if they're as good as stated for suppressed rifles (which all of mine are) I'll upgrade my other AR.

i like mine and think they are worth it, not so much for sound, but for the overall smoothness it brings to the platform.

i have one in a suppressed lmt 10.5 MRP that is very nice to shoot, also ran that lower on a 20 inch A4 which feels like a pellet gun,  ridiculously fun is well.
