What other calibers can I convert my stock Ruger AR-556 to. Just asking because I came across a beast of a caliber online 458 socom. Just want to see how truly versatle these weapons are.

Oh boy.

Including bolt and barrel swap, here we go...
.458 SOCOM (awesome round, if you cast/reload or can stomach the cost)
.300 Blackout
.50 Beowulf
6.5 Grendel
6.8 SPC
.22LR
.25-45 Sharps (meh)
.22 Nosler
.204 Ruger

And those are just the high-profile ones. There are a LOT more.

You can buy a 458 upper with everything you need to convert your AR. Just swap it out with your existing one. Your 5.56 magazines will work, just as a single stack.

Some of them will require different mags (like 6.8 and 6.5G, as well as .22LR), but for the most part, yes, an upper swap is all you'd need.  Some (that weren't listed in this thread) like 9mm will require other parts, like a mag block.
