Took the M4gery to rezero.  I had given away my QRP2 mount to my BIL (long story) and bought a QRP mount from a member here.   So I had to rezero that and verify my CCH for zero.

I zero'd at 25 meters and also did a test of off hand shooting at 25 yards.  Between irons and Aimpoint PRO.  I am going to do test at longer distance in the future, but my main use for this gun is Home Defense and SHTF.    It was kind of good because by the time I got to doing the offhand test between the RDS and Irons, it was getting dark and very foggy.   Thing is, an RDS helps you see better, it is definitely easier on the eyes, but I'm not sure it helps me shoot any better.  And I don't think it's any faster.  Although I didn't use a timer.

Plus the benefits of the RDS dwindle even more in lots of light.  IMHO.  I don't know if it's me because I've been shooting irons forever.  I do like the RDS.  But I don't like the extra weight.  And I'm just not convinced it helps me shoot any better.  Not sure what to think about them.  I think for a more patrol type optic for distances over home distances, I would see the benefits more often.  But then I'd probably rather have a ACOG.

My Daughter had fun today too.  She's 13 and got to drive the car on the roads at the range.  LOL.

The "Timer" tells no tales.  You will see the difference after the buzzer goes off. RDS is faster.

Probably so.  But the big ap is pretty darned fast.   I do like how the sight picture is cleaner with an RDS.  With my aging eyes the irons are just blurry.  When the light is low enough, no amount of focusing on the front sight gets it crisp.  But the thing is, with this particular carbine, I have done this in the past and did it yesterday.  I can hit pieces of clays on the berms, which is about 35 yards, with just focusing on the target and just letting the front sight be fuzzy.  Small ap or ghost ring.  I hit just pieces of clay with regularity that it makes this carbine feel like it's special.  Either that or having the front sight be crisp isn't as important as one might think.  At least not at 35 yards and under.

The ghost ring, plus a target focus is very fast.  With an RDS I have tenancy to want to fine tune the shot a bit more than with the irons.  That's my own fault though.
