Hi,

I'm coming to you for ideas what could be causing the issue with my newly installed larue trigger.  The problem is it seems the firing pin is not striking hard enough but I don't know.

I was at the range sighting in a new red dot with the new trigger.  First few rounds ran flawless.  Then when I went to pull the trigger, I heard a click (which I assume was the trigger going off and firing pin striking)  trigger got real mushy and it failed to fire.

Racked the charging handle to eject and load new round and same thing.  Inspection of the round showed a light indent on the primer.

Thinking it was the ammo, I tried a few different brands of ammo and had similar results.

I've run this ammo in other rifles fine, the only new variable is the trigger.  I'm assuming it's the problem.

The other thing I noticed is the trigger pin seemed very loose, like I could push it out easily by hand.  Like no pressure was keeping it contained and secured.  Not sure if that's a clue to what the problem is.

Thanks in advance.  Let me know if you need more information or photos.

UPDATE:  I'm an idiot.

I removed the hammer and you guys were right, I had the hammer spring backwards.  I flipped it around and reinstalled.  Trigger pin is no longer loose as well.  Haven't been to the range yet since the fix but I'm sure this will solve the problem.  Thanks a million for the help.

Check the spring as mentioned, clean it up, and try it again. Especially the carrier.

Make sure there isn't anything in the star chamber (brl ext) that might be stopping the bcg from locking in. Blown primer or something. Better yet, take a star chamber brush to it and some solvent.

What ammo? Wolf/Tula put out a ton of extra hard primer stuff.

Always use full strength hammer springs. Always.

Make sure the firing pin isn't broken and protrudes as much as it should.

I'm listing everything possible so that your next attempt is successful.

Sounds like the hammer spring is backwards, It's an easy mistake. Watch a YouTube video of a trigger instal or look up pictures and see if yours looks like theirs.

Cold outside and oil in the firing pin chamber?

Another vote for hammer spring backwards and not sitting on the trigger pin. That's why the trigger pin is easily pushed out.
