Colt A4 is an excellent choice. My first was a RRA, that I purchased from Pete 11 years ago . I was a hesitant of purchasing over the Internet also. But my first transaction and every transaction since has went very smoothly. Spend some time searching, and reading post at this website. There are tons of info here, don't rush into purchasing something... TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!

My uncle just bought a new Colt AR-15 A4 for $995.00. He ordered over 8 months ago through a local dealership. GunBroker is asking ridiculous prices right now because they are limited distribution items.
If you are hell bent on getting an issue style A4 and don't mind paying a premium for it consider FN-USA's Collector Series model. They go for the same price as the Colt's on GunBroker and come with a KAC railed handguard. |

Thank you all for your posts so far! Lots of valuable information, for which I am very grateful for.
I've been tossing around the idea of building one, as well. In fact I've gone so far as to assemble a list of parts, totalling to a shade under $650, give or take a bit. However, that being said, the most I've ever done is field stripping a Walther P22. I've never assembled something like this from the ground up. Therefor I'm somewhat in doubt of my own abilities. After all I would think it would be reasonable to be weary of something that could potentially explode in your face. |
