I have no idea who makes this or what it's called. Anyone know?

Negative but it might be. I got a bug up my ass to build a Vietnam style AR with triangle hand guards  and everything so I'm researching all of the stuff now. It's funny because I never cared for the way they looked but I saw one with a can on it and fell in love. Now I think they all look great. Although i might not go full blown replica. I don't like the idea of not being able to remove the carry handle.

You guys know of the best places to score uppers (even legit non removable carry handle) and lowers for these?

And so just typing in Vietnam era three print flash hider should yield results?

Thanks guys! You rock

DPMS makes one which looks like the one that you have pictured (although, the retro guys can tell it's not original):

JSE has them cheap

There are no flats on them and the correct wrench is not easy to find (the later USGI wrenches without the three-prong part have the same NSN, so you'll want a picture to confirm which one is on offer).  I've heard you can use a screw driver as a pry bar to install them.  There's a whole bunch of lore about people getting tall grass caught in them, using them to cut wire, and other such stuff which led to the A1 flash hider.  Also, people claim they make a tuning fork kind of noise when you fire your rifle.  I've never heard it, but I've also not fired a rifle with a 20" pencil-profile barrel.

We use the JP one, for it is the best at light reduction. Ive got two Smith's on my odd sixes, and the only difference I see is the cost.
