Hello:

I realize there is a lot about this topic on the web, I searched this forum with the words 'short stroke' and came up dry.  So, I will post and see what info I can receive.

I performed a build and unfortunately the gun is short stroking.  I took the gas block off and checked alignment with my barrel dimple jig I purchased from Rainier arms.  The round mark left by the knurled set screw on the bottom of the gas block 'shelf' was right in line with the hole on the jig that is 180 degrees from the cone set screw that mates with the barrel gas port.  Also, there was a round ring left by the gas block hole circling the barrel port.  So I assume I'm OK there.

I sprayed some Rem Oil in the gas key and then blew air into the key with my air compressor.  I did see a couple of bubbles where the key overhangs the indentation on the left side of the carrier.  It is a Stag left handed bolt carrier.

I'm using a RRA Operator Stock A2 with the appropriate 42 coil spring and buffer.

If the gas block itself is leaking can I use loctite 640 to seal OR will I risk getting the loctite in the barrel port?

Thanks!

Based on what you have said it sounds like a problem with the gas key.
Usually a broken or loose screw.
