Looking for info/opinions on selecting a trigger...
Building a 6.5 Grendel AR which will mostly be used for bench/precision shooting and I have a couple triggers to choose from... Geissele Hi Speed National Match (adjustable, lightest pull is approx 1.8lbs) Geissele Hi Speed DMR (same as above, lightest pull is approx 2.8lbs) Elftmann 3 Gun CMC 2 stage The "best" from what I can tell is the Geissele Hi Speed National Match (or possibly the DMR) My questions are 1) should i get an adjustable trigger? never had one before, not sure how much i would adjust it, etc 2) is the lightest trigger pull weight the "best"? Appreciate the help |

Quoted: I much prefer the Geissele National Match. SSA-E's are decent, but you can always set your High Speed NM to the same pull levels of an SSA-E if you want to. If you get the Hi Speed Match / Match trigger, you'll get all 3 springs in the back, so if you want to make the pull heavier you just change the spring. You can easily get the feel of the SSA-E (which I also have) with the DMR spring in the HSM trigger |

The Geissele Hi-speed is National Match comes in three flavors; Service (heaviest), DMR (middle road), Match (lightest). The only difference between the models are the trigger, hammer, and disconnector springs. That all said, I personally prefer the DMR springs for my hunting/precision rifles. I have mine tuned to right at 4LBS total pull weight, which is about perfect for my needs. |

I don't have adjustable triggers because I don't think I really need it. The less I have that I don't need, the less potential for issues.
Lightest isn't the best. Sometimes it is, but I wouldn't make that a general statement. I have SD-E's and one SSA. I like the SD-E a lot, but off the bench sometimes I wish I had a SD-C. I really just wish my SSA was a SD-C. The gun that I would grab if I ever needed one for defense has a single stage trigger, and it's set up as my heaviest trigger. I like the way it feels for its intended purpose. |
