Anybody know if Ares is making the SCR lower still. Can't find any in stock and it's no longer on their website. I'm not in a ban state but man I think they are cool. Just can't find one in stock anywhere

I read somewhere recently that Ares is going through some kind of reorganization and is changing their name to something else.  According to the article, it said they will continue to produce the SCR

Just found that article. Won't have more lowers produces until mid October. Bummer

With the new "assault weapons" laws in CA taking effect the first of the year...folks are buying them up as fast as they can.

Rightfully so.  While I am obviously 100% against any of the restrictions, including those in place (like the 86 and pre 86 actions), but if I understand the CA laws correctly, this will allow people to have any configuration with use of this lower.  Does this mean they are also allowed to use any magazine capacity?

I'm thinking negative on the high cap thing.  10 rounds seems to be the limit.

Cali.gov website here.

Current language here:

9. Are large-capacity magazines legal?
Generally, it is illegal to buy, manufacture, import, keep for sale, expose for sale, give or lend any large-capacity magazine (able to accept more than 10 rounds) in California. However, continued possession of large-capacity magazines that you owned in California prior to January 1, 2000, is legal provided you are not otherwise prohibited. A person prohibited from possessing firearms is also prohibited from owning or possessing any magazines or ammunition.

(Pen. Code, ยงยง16150, subd. (b), 30305, 32310.)

That lower is intriguing and very clever, I actually had never seen it.  Other companies should jump in on that action.

Calif. law allows one  evil feature only. If it has a detachable mag, no pistol grip, forward grip, flash suppressor or collapsible stock. Craig

I recently became aware of the SCR and wanted to check out the specs first hand, as it seemed like sorta a 21st century M1 carbine.  The Ares Defense website "http://aresdefense.com" now redirects to "https://fightlite.com", their new name apparently being "Fightlite Industries".

The SCR is not listed on their new website.

The SCR (lower or complete rifle) is out of stock everyplace on line that I can find it having been listed for sale.

I emailed them at "[email protected]" on 8/28 to ask if the SCR was discontinued, and a technical question concerning upper compatibility in the event that it was not.  As of this writing (9/2), no reply.

Not definitive, but not promising...

There was a thread, just like this one, 2 weeks ago. And a member had e-mailed them, they replied. Yes, still in production, back ordered everywhere, late October. The new site doesn't have everything on it, yet. Also, they still are showing pics of SCR's and MCR's on their FB page daily.

As soon as I can find one I'm going to pick a lower up. I live in northern Illinois so no restrictions I just think they look awesome, and unique with a wood stock, and a side charging upper.
